All this as the supremely calculating centrist parties begin to consolidate behind Flavio, media discourse is practically treating him as president-elect, and even Moraes and his allies are offering gestures of submission.

Never write off Lula and the PT machine. They have more than two weeks to activate all the weapons -- political and otherwise -- that have kept him and them in power for 25 years -- but the already-difficult task for Lula of overcoming this right-wing wave looks more difficut with each passing day.
