@DrSigears I used Google to find resources that weren't scholarly articles or journals. I used the library databases to find peer-reviewed research articles.
@DrSigears A4: For EDUC 5500, I had to do a professional webquest in which I looked up various sources, such as education journals, video sources, etc. Also, I did a group presentation about evolution vs. intelligent design and a research paper, both requiring educational research. #ap5540
Simple ways to upgrade your classroom and advice to keep the classroom a learning environment long-term! Some pretty aesthetic classroom setups/designs within the article.

@MrsAGipson@DrSigears We talked about this as partners! Very good idea to come prepared and have somewhat of an idea of what to expect! Better to be over-prepared and informed than underprepared and appear unqualified.
@MrMurphyTeaches@DrSigears The electronic library and databases have definitely proved to be useful, especially for our group project yesterday! They are a good thing to know how to use and result in useful peer-reviewed articles.
@Mr_Daniel_Trent @DrSigears Yes, I remember having some similar resources considering we're both future biology teachers! Virtual labs are neat, easy, and time-saving. Khan Academy was my favorite of all the resources, though.
@DrSigears A3: I can think of many situations in which research may be necessary as a future teacher: classroom management, special education, behavior problems, teaching controversial topics, improving student grades, new ideas in a particular subject (science in my case), LOTS! #ap5540
@DrSigears A2: As research in education reveals new information, those in education must stay informed to do the best job possible. Adaptable and informed teachers that are open to new ideas may be more successful than ones trapped in previous methods. #ap5540
@DrSigears A1: Before interviewing, I will research the district/particular school and take time to drive through the neighborhood to become familiar with it (advice from my interview partner). Appearing confident and practicing interview questions beforehand will help prep me. #ap5540
@mhayes611 A3: Students breaking into small groups and teaching one another as review can bring out the academic vocabulary they have learned. Think-Pair-Share also would work. Students ponder a question, share ideas with a neighbor, then the whole class.

@mhayes611 A2: In high school biology, literacy can be assessed by the reading of scientific journals and posing discussion questions based on the article for students. Also, Flipgrid can be used to accomplish this, as you can assess speaking and listening in student replies!

@mhayes611 A1: Although I do not teach yet, I see literacy as essential to any subject and it serves as the basis of our communication. In biology, reading scientific journals and applying knowledge can ensure literary goals are met for students.

@mhayes611 My name is Kelsey and I'm in Tennessee! I am currently working on a Masters of Arts in Teaching. I hope to teach biology, secondary education. This is my first live chat. #formativechat
@DrSigears A3: What I found surprising was the variability, from the minimum, average, and maximum salaries. Is it teacher performance and longevity that causes this? Also surprising, the very bottom of the minimum list and top of the maximum list, a $63k difference - Why? #ap5540
@Mr_Daniel_Trent @DrSigears Not reinventing the wheel is a good idea. Resources are out there to use, and it's silly to not use them when we need them. They could be a huge time saver, inspire our own ideas, or add improvements to our lesson plans. Those resources are out there for a reason!
@joseph_crossan@DrSigears I agree. There's only so much a person can get done in, say, an hour and expecting more than that is unrealistic and unnecessarily stressful. Also, expecting too little can lead to procrastination. That's why the time management is important!
@JessicaDiOrio1@DrSigears College professor - good idea! Can tell you really enjoy teaching! Do you already speak another language or would you have to learn one to be a translator?
