@AerLingus in Manchester airport and been refused entry to lounge because my flight is being operated by Emerald airlines. Silver member, booked through your website on an EI coded flight. What's the point if no access to your lounges, which your airport staff didn't know
I've made a tiny contribution to the bank of Irish history, but a big moment for me was realising I'd successfully identified the only known photo of James Connolly taken during the 1916 Easter Rising.
It shows him on a stretcher surrounded by Irish Volunteers & British soldiers.
JOHN MCGHLOINN: In the Democratic Republic of Congo, 40,000 children are digging out cobalt for electric car batteries with their bare hands. They get paid a dollar a day, all to make rich westerners feel "greener".

Wedding season is upon us!

If you're getting married in a church and plan to use the "love is patient, love is kind" reading from Corinthians, why not mix things up a little and use the Irish version of it?
I tweet about this from time to time, but read Tony Bennett (@itstonybennett) on war, and the lessons he took from it, and the lessons he took from seeing American racism during the Allies’ occupation of Germany. It’s powerful stuff & hugely instructive: https://t.co/mcb117RP7G

Hollywood strikers might take inspiration from Mary Manning, the Dunne's Stores worker who protested against apartheid by refusing to handle South African grapefruit #otd in 1984. She was suspended and 9 co-workers went on strike. They held out for *two* years
The Government believe there is public support for the proposed #HateSpeech legislation. It’s clear from my poll of nearly 11,000 people that 90% don’t feel it necessary to protect people who get offended by the opinions of others. Opinions that may be considered #HateSpeech. Ireland’s politicians are not fit for purpose and by their own admission today they are going to “restrict freedom” and censor your views if it causes “Discomfort” to others and doesn’t run with the Government or NGO narrative.
