The superhero universe was created by American Jews who felt powerless amid the Nazi threat. They saw no countries would stand up for Jews: so they created superheroes who, in a fictional universe, would protect the needy against the baddies.
Often the Judaism was hidden - plenty of antisemitism in America too - but as time went on, it crept into the lives of a few superheroes and in 1980 the first Israeli superhero - Sabra, a Mossad mutant - was born.
The controversy over having an Israeli superhero in a movie started from the moment it was announced two years ago, especially as she was being played by the Israeli Shira Hass. It’s reached fever pitch since October 7 (when once again Jews have felt bashed about by antisemitism).
It appears the film company has caved in to today’s Jewhaters. Although Sabra is an Israeli cactus (and a word Israelis use about themselves - prickly on the outside, soft and sweet on the inside) she’s no longer Israeli. Biggest insult? Making her Russian was deemed less offensive.

Why can nobody talk about the hostages? Do their lives mean nothing?

Everybody has free license to talk about Gaza, as they should to raise awareness—which I wish would also be applied to the Israeli hostages in Gaza—but such content is never rebuffed and attacked with mass “‘what about’ the hostages?” In response.

It’s actually not possible to talk about the hostages at all. It’s not possible talk about them without being accused of loving genocide. It’s not possible to mourn their tragic deaths without being met with floods of “what about” Gazan death comments, as though it’s a competition.

This is such a cruel fate to enforce upon innocent civilians.

Where is the humanity?

Where are all the human rights organizations? Why are they eerily silent about brutalized young girls held in captivity of violent militias for 7 months, then their disfigured bodies later recovered? Where are the feminists?

You aren’t on the right side of history. If you’re on a “side,” you’re already wrong. Humanity has no sides.

The cruelest monsters in history were also convinced they were on the right side of history, and it’s this conviction in some infallibly correct position with no lines or limits that engenders the greatest acts of evil, all in the name of what’s “right.”

This is not a competition. Your “what abouts” are not just wrong, they are cruel, undignified, and regrettable.
