Back on this app, but for good reason.
Glad to have co-authored the report @william_fitz cites with Matt Scherer at @openmarkets. Wall Street + Silicon Valley are betting big on AI - but with our money! Our pensions, life insurance, 401(k)s - our financial security on the line.
"Speculative data center debt is being repackaged and sold to pension and retirement funds, university endowments, and other institutional investors in a manner eerily reminiscent of the subprime bubble."

Wow.
Business investment surged almost 13% in Q3 2026 due to the AI investment boom.
We haven't seen anything that strong since Q3 2011 when the economy was finally starting to pickup a bit of momentum after the Great Recession.
This will not be sustainable at this pace.
[Note: I'm looking at "non-residential fixed investment" and I'm excluding the 2020 pandemic re-opening]
This is the kind of approach we need to confront mounting financial risks and emerge from the aftermath of the AI bubble with an economy that is fairer and more stable.

@USProgressives oppose AI bailouts and are committed to protecting working ppl.
In @RealBankReform's endorsement of the resolution, we note the tech billionaires are using dangerous tactics to make trillion dollar bets on are putting ppl's money at risk. #NoBillionaireBailouts
Working people are not an insurance policy for Big Tech’s reckless bets. @RepCasar and @RepMaxineWaters new resolution sends a clear message: No AI bailouts. Workers come first, not billionaires.
This resolution charts a critically important path for defending people’s economic security from the bubble’s blast radius, opposing billionaire bailouts, and holding corporate executives to account.
BREAKING: House Democrats have officially introduced a resolution saying Congress should let failing AI companies go bankrupt instead of bailing them out if the AI bubble bursts.
It also calls for executives who took reckless risks to be held accountable under civil and criminal law.
Even the #AnthropicIPO filing makes no mention of the $63 billion deal announced the same day. Their hidden nature is itself a risk that federal financial regulators should step up to address, before it is too late. #BlockTheIPO (9/9)
JPM, Oracle, Nvidia, SoftBank, OpenAI. This could just be a list of some of the world's most talked about companies. But it is actually a list of the giants in the debt-laden corporate layer cake behind a massive AI data center in tight-knit Abilene, TX. (1/9)
Banks have been offloading that debt onto pension funds and life insurers. Losses that start with a single tenant could travel all the way to working people's retirement savings. (8/9)
This December (12/9), AI Now's Chief AI Scientist @HeidyKhlaaf will deliver a keynote at @BlackHatEvents about how AI companies are co-opting and conflating AI security and safety methods and terminology to the detriment of overall security posture.
A grocery company that experiments on shoppers to see how much it can overcharge them is merging with a delivery company that tracks their every click and scroll to do the same.
Two of America's biggest ripoff machines should not become one.
The FTC must block this merger.
Banks are delaying plans to offload part of a $15 billion loan to fund a data center tied to Anthropic in Texas, after the state put a hold on new projects while assessing risks to its power grid https://t.co/QCwM0rKo37
