@netflix This isn’t a good time to encourage ppl to watch shows that glorify suicide by making it seem meaningful & include zero capable adults. We’re in isolation (+changes to routine) & there’s a revolution in the works that’s hard on a lot of ppl. Can we not w/ 13 Reasons Why?

It’s interesting to be out here versus watching it on Twitter. It feels more safe than you might imagine, despite people setting things on fire and police staring down from the roof with guns. It still feels like a strange version of a summer night in south Minneapolis somehow.
I'm just crying all the tears. Happy ones, sad ones, proud ones, grief ones. But this post is not about me. It's about the Room 119 family that my teachers & support staff have created with our very awesome students. This what family does for each other...
Because teachers are awesome: @MayaToday challenged Witty’s class to write a story of at least 32 pages. If they completed it she would have it published. Yesterday she dropped off our copy and it’s my new favorite book 📖 #SAMS#SANBstrong
I’m equally looking forward to continuing to “blow up” Language Arts in ways that make it more accessible and meaningful for students as I am to returning to “regular school” and I can only hope that someday those two won’t have to be mutually exclusive...3/3
Throughout this whole adventure of online learning, I’ve been positive. I’m lucky bc I work in a district that I can trust, I have contact with all my students, and I have a student teacher equally as excited as I am by the possibility of trying something outside-of-the-box...1/3
But today I dropped off books (written by my kids) to their homes, and I would be lying if I didn’t say that it absolutely tore my heart in half. I miss them and I miss all my favorite parts of teaching that distance learning replaces...2/3
