Imagine how great it would feel to be given back an entire year of your life. That just happened to me. I deadass thought I was 37 and my wife was like "you're 36, dumbass."
Indigenous women experience murder rates more than 10 times the national average, while four out of five native women experience some sort of violence in their lifetime.
Sometimes you don’t need another book to read, podcast to listen to or more content to consume — you need a break and to allow your brain time to relax and speak to you without the abundance of external influences.
Ross makes a list of Rachel’s pros and cons including: she is ditzy, too obsessed with her looks, and ‘just a waitress.’ He thinks apologizing means calling into a local radio show to dedicate a song to her. Later, he wants Rachel to quit her new job because she has an attractive coworker. He calls her to apologize about his jealousy, hears that her co-worker is at Rachel’s apartment, and decides to sleep with another woman because of it. His controlling and insulting behavior is seen as endearing and charming— rather than a red flag, reflecting his deep insecurities.
THIS is the man who was just arrested for child sex crimes. Was he in drag reading in libraries?
No. Surprise, surprise, he was a YOUTH PASTOR. For a church. In Texas.
But was he the only pastor in America arrested recently for this charge? No. Not even close.
There have been two more cases. In just the last week alone. In the SAME COUNTY.
I'm sure now Greg Abbott, Ron DeSantis and every other Republican will completely shift their focus to banning right-wing Christians from going anywhere near kids.
Because clearly they should leave those of us in the LGBT+ community alone.
Facing trauma is part of life. A lot of people want to talk about how to avoid traumatic experiences, which is a good thing.
It's equally important to talk about how to cope after traumatic experiences do happen.
People who have support (someone to listen, to validate, and to take interest in) what someone's experienced are able to recover.
I've worked with many people who were met with:
- 'that wasn't a big deal'
- 'man up'
- 'get over it'
- 'don't be so sensitive'
- 'that didn't actually happen.'
This adds another layer of wounding and shame because we are wired to connect. When people invalidate our experiences, it's an emotional abandonment.
We need co-regulation: people who are connected to themselves and able to hold space for us.
It's through consistent co-regulation that we learn to be resilient. With the help of others, our nervous system regulates, and we can return to homeostasis.
Without co-regulation, we cannot cope with our emotions or experiences. Adult who can't emotionally regulate often: spiral quickly into rage, shut down (stonewall), can't seek solutions in conflict, and are highly sensitive to any form criticism.
Support from others shows teaches us how to support ourselves.
When you really dedicate yourself to learning how to communicate in healthy ways, you learn how few people truly prioritize the most important life skill.
@SaeedDiCaprio Tbh the fact that this tweet exists at the same time some people are having breakdown on Twitter about how “if you dress immodestly at the gym Of CoUrSe people will stare” is just wild.
By age 30 start to practice telling the truth 100%. Even when you want to crawl out of your skin and even when the thought of saying it makes you want to cry. The quicker you can get your nervous system adjusted to honesty, the better life you’re going to have.
a legal adult is 18 years old, grown men date 18 year olds. if it were 16, grown men would date 16 year olds. if it were 14, grown men would date 14 year olds. if it were 12, grown men would date 12 year olds.
these girls are absolutely right.
Staying with someone, hiding information from them, or being dishonest to ‘protect’ someone is deception. Love is giving someone the truth so they can decide for themselves. Our role isn’t to protect other adults from the truth. Our role is to be truthful.
