Earlier this month, we had a session in the computer lab. My professor was trying to display some pages for us, but there were technical issues. Time was running short, so he just skipped ahead to the next topic.

I got home later that day and checked my email - there was a message from him. He apologized to the entire class for the disruption, assured us that the skipped content wouldn’t appear on our exams, and encouraged us to read the module and reach out if we had questions.

As someone who studied in Nigeria, I literally had to blink twice. A professor apologised…to students…for an issue that wasn’t even his fault. Wow.

Meanwhile, back home lecturers are destroying students’ work because they doubt their ability. Just makes me shake my head. We really are suffering. Imagine a world where a student’s effort is met with guidance and empathy rather than humiliation.

Teachers here have made us understand that education isn’t about proving who’s right or flexing authority. It’s about helping students grow. Apologies, patience, believing your students, and encouragement go a long way. That’s how you build true learning, not fear, not the rubbish this lecturer performed in this video 💔

Oh, I read the module really well because God will not shame us😂🙏🏾 I wrote the exam, and it didn't come out as he mentioned - another wow!
