Oh my goodness, I chose my toxic workplace over unemployment! Every Sunday evening, I would shed tears, and by Monday, I was back at work! Poverty can truly rob you of your dignity, especially when no one is willing to offer assistance.

Before you dismiss it as not being toxic, let me list some of the things that happened:

- We were required to submit our daily activities on paper, and she would mark them over five with red biro.
- She denied me leave because I hadn’t achieved 75% of my year’s target, which was in June.
- She reversed my bonus payment and instructed my line manager to either drop my grade or resign.
- She told a junior colleague to slap himself because he had failed to count a delivered order.
- She told my line manager to close his eyes and raise his hands.
- She banned us from wearing black socks because she deemed them uncool.
