I woke up this morning to a distressed call from my sister. Some money had been deducted from her account. When I checked the alert, I told her it is from FG!

A while ago, she and some others formed a group and collected a government loan during the Buhari administration. They were made to believe it was free money. I had warned her back then that the money would eventually be recovered, but she insisted the group was told the debt had been wiped off and forgiven.

This is exactly the kind of mentality many Nigerians seem to have. that government should just share money and forget about it. I’m not sure if we want to build an actual country or just run a “freebies” economy.

Now the total loan was ₦350,000 and she’s asking me to help repay it. I’ve told her I won’t pay a single kobo.

She is lucky they left 9k for her!

She says she’ll stop banking with GTB. I explained that it doesn’t matter, they can recover from any bank account linked to her NIN.
