On this day in 1991, as the Philippines commemorated Independence Day, Pinatubo Volcano had its first major eruption, sending an ash column up to nearly 24 km high!
Nearly 48 hours after the government raised the alarm and Clark Airbase evacuated, Pinatubo unleashed its first major fury, proving that the warnings were right. Scientists call this the 'throat-clearing' phase of Pinatubo, which preceded its largest eruption on June 15.

🚨 SCAMMER ALERT An Experience of Jen Poli
Yesterday, I got a call from someone claiming to be “Jason from BPI mobile number -09603970013 ” He sounded very professional and convincing at first.
He told me that my BPI Platinum card was being upgraded to a BPI Black card, and that I would receive a Sodexo gift certificate along with the delivery of my new card, no annual fees etc. Everything he said sounded believable like a normal bank transaction.
Then things started to feel off.
He began verifying my card details, and surprisingly, he already knew parts of my card information even mentioning my recent transaction. He asked me to confirm if the card number he had was correct, and I initially said yes.
But then he asked for more.
He requested the 3-digit number at the back of my card (CVV), and tried to justify it by saying it was the “3 digits that indicate how many cards have been released”—which didn’t make sense at all.
That’s when I knew something was wrong.
I told him:
"Why would I give you my CVV? I’ll just go to a BPI branch to verify."
Right after that, his attitude completely changed. He got angry, said “P.I. ka,” and then hung up the call.
⚠️ Reminder:
Banks will NEVER ask for your CVV, OTP, or complete card details over the phone.
Even if they sound legit.
Even if they already know some of your information.
✅ Stay safe:
- Never share your CVV or OTP
- Verify directly with your bank
- Trust your instincts if something feels off, it probably is
Posting this to spread awareness. Scammers are getting more convincing, so let’s stay alert.

Oil rose after efforts to resume peace talks over the Iran war stalled, leaving the Strait of Hormuz nearly impassable and prolonging supply disruptions; WTI gained 2.1% to just over $96.77 a barrel, while Brent closed near $102.
It's been nearly a year since talk of changes to the rules governing eligibility for inclusion in the PSEi and sub-indices.
Hope the @PhStockExchange can give clarity on this as soon as possible.

FIRST ON B: ₱37B utang, ₱43B lugi: Gabby, Beaver camps pour ₱500M to save ABS-CBN from liquidation, tap Lopez ‘rainy day’ fund as Piki bloc resists
Bilyonaryo Eugenio “Gabby” Lopez III and allies led by Manuel “Beaver” Lopez Jr. scrambled to raise ₱500 million in emergency funding to keep ABS-CBN afloat as it teetered on the brink of liquidation late last year.
Documents obtained by Bilyonaryo show the rescue package was pulled together after the bloc led by Federico “Piki” Lopez refused to back a larger ₱2 billion capital infusion proposed by management.
