Archbishop Desmond Tutu was a mentor, a friend, and a moral compass for me and so many others. A universal spirit, Archbishop Tutu was grounded in the struggle for liberation and justice in his own country, but also concerned with injustice everywhere.
Although justice was finally served in the Arbery case, we must continue our efforts for change and remain mindful that as a country we still have a ways to go before we have "liberty and justice for all."
Justice was served by a South Georgia jury, which found that #AhmaudArbery was murdered for running while Black.
I pray Ahmaud’s family and friends find comfort today. This verdict speaks also to the direction where Georgia is headed. Forward, not back.
