Happy Lunar New Year, London! đđđź
I want to send my best wishes to everyone celebrating across London during this special time of renewal and family. The Year of the Horse resonates deeply with me as it represents forward momentum and determination, words that are synonymous with our city.
To mark the occasion, Iâm hanging this beautiful lantern in my office that was kindly shared with me last week by Kim KC Ly, and Council has permitted backyard fireworks between dusk and 11pm tonight, February 17th. A reminder that fireworks are not to be discharged on city streets or in parks.
Have a healthy, prosperous and happy Year of the Fire Horse!
I was heartbroken to learn of the devastating and horrific shootings in Tumbler Ridge, British Columbia. Londoners are grieving today alongside the victims, families, friends and community who have lost loved ones and had their lives changed forever by this unimaginable tragedy. We hold them all close in our thoughts, along with gratitude for the first responders.
On behalf of the City of London, we stand in solidarity, support and compassion with Tumbler Ridge. Flags will be flown at half-mast until sunset on February 17, 2026 in honour of those impacted.
I was proud to represent Londoners as Chair of FCMâs Big City Mayorsâ Caucus in Ottawa this past week as we met with Prime Minister Mark Carney to discuss our shared prioritiesâincluding how investments in our cities support a stronger, more resilient Canada.
With a rapidly-changing world economy, and nation-building projects at the fore of Canadaâs plan to meet these newfound challenges, I share the Prime Ministerâs urgency and ambition. Here in London, weâve proven that we know how to partner with the federal government to bring homes and infrastructure to our growing city. I was encouraged by the PMâs belief in our regionâs potential to support those ambitious projects, and I look forward to working together to deliver for London.

London is mourning the loss of a true local legendâour very own Godfather of Sports, Pete James.
Pete was more than a sportscaster, he was the voice of London for generations, sharing his passion for the Knights, Mustangs, and so many teams that shaped our community. His gift for storytelling and the warmth he brought to every broadcast made him a fixture in homes across London.
On behalf of the City and Londoners past and present, I extend my deepest condolences to Peteâs family, friends, colleagues, and countless fans who connected with him like no other. His impact on Londonâs sports culture is permanent, and will be remembered forever.
Thank you, Pete, for the memorable calls, for the nights spent following your every word, and for the joy you brought to everyone who has called London home. You will be deeply missed.
Canadaâs housing and trade goals depend on enabling infrastructure and reliable transit in the cities where growth is happening. Housing targets require infrastructure capacity to match.

Yesterdayâs 2026 State of the City Address @RBCPlaceLondon was our largest ever, and the largest address of its kind in the country. I want to sincerely thank the over 1,200 business leaders, community representatives, partners, and Londoners who joined us in person, as well as everyone who tuned in online.
This address is one of the most important moments of the year for me. Itâs my chance to speak directly to Londoners about the real return on investments weâve committed to in public safety, homelessness, housing, and infrastructure, and the work ahead as we continue shaping Londonâs future.
In an especially powerful moment, I asked everyone in the room to stand, representing the nearly 1500 people we have helped out of homelessness since we, as a city, chose to stand together and make a difference three years ago. Progress is hard to see, and this was not a celebrationâwith homelessness continuing to rise in Ontario, there are more people to support, and I am committed to that work. But for those we have been able to help, who donât have to find a place to sleep tonight, and who are experiencing stability and security perhaps for the first time in yearsâweâve made that difference, and that drives me to continue.
In the coming days, Iâll be sharing highlights from the speech on social media, and I encourage anyone interested in hearing it in full to check out the video here: https://t.co/uLPLKYtG5D

The sun was shining, the burgers were sizzling and the beats got everyoneâs feet moving as I joined Councillors Corrine Rahman, @strosow and MP @KurtHolmanMP at the London Black Heritage Councilâs Community Cookout this past weekend! It was great to celebrate the communityâs deep roots here in London, their contribution to our city and its history, and catch up over some delicious food. LBHC has been educating and uplifting since 2002, creating a legacy that has played an integral role in weaving the beautiful, diverse tapestry that is London. I was deeply grateful for the chance to honour their work, friendship and wisdom. #ldnont #blackheritage #blackculture
This week I was delighted to join Councillor Skylar Franke and MP @pfragiskatos as we broke ground at 96 Ridout St S, site of the future Mayfair Wortley Village by @TricarGroup! This purpose-built rental high-rise development, right in the heart of Old South, is a great example of how federal HST programs allow our city and trusted developers like Tricar to push forward on exciting projects like this, helping us meet building targets and take real action on our housing crisis.
Iâm proud of the strong relationships Iâve built with senior levels of government and developers to bring investment and take advantage of innovative initiatives for London. Weâll continue working together to deliver new and diverse housing options across our iconic neighbourhoods. #ldnont #london #housing #oldsouth
Earlier this week I was proud to join Premier @fordnation, Minister @RobFlackEML, Deputy Mayor Shawn Lewis and Councillors @jerrypribilw5 and Hadleigh McAlister to announce that London will receive a further $11.9 million in funding from @ONgov for meeting our housing and growth targets under the Building Faster Fund. Our city is one of the fastest growing in Ontario, and these funds are not only recognition of our commitment and work in building homes, but confirmation that partners across government know when you invest in London, we deliver results. A huge thank you goes out to Council and city staff for their efforts in securing this additional funding, and to the Ontario Government as we work together to build a growing community Londoners can be proud of. #ldnont #ontario #housing
Today, I had the opportunity to join Premier @fordnation, Minister @RobFlackEML, PA @PinsonneaultLKM and Mayor @MayorMorgan in London for an important Skills Development Fund announcement.
This $2.6 million investment will provide workers in #SouthwesternOntario with the in-demand skills they need, strengthen our skilled trades workforce, and help build a stronger future for Ontario.
Today, I was proud to join Premier @fordnation and @MayorMorgan to deliver $11.9 million from the Building Faster Fund to the City of London â a well-deserved investment recognizing Londonâs success in meeting housing targets and driving growth.
Thank you to London City Council for your leadership and commitment to building the homes Londoners need. As the MPP for #ElginMiddlesexLondon, Iâll keep working hard to support this progress and fight for the future of our community. Together, weâre building a stronger London for generations to come.
