Day 1 of UKREiiF has been a great success. Our first event, GatewayEast – South Yorkshire’s largest development opportunity, saw a positive panel discussion and an engaged, busy audience. And despite the rain, the energy and optimism haven’t slowed down.

I am proud and humbled to have been selected as Labour’s candidate for Makerfield.
These proud working-class communities represent the very best values of our country and they deserve so much better. It would be my honour to work for them every day, if elected as their MP, to achieve that.
Many people here feel Westminster isn’t working for them and they are right. I am standing to change that and get the voice of these communities heard loud and clear.
I am glad that this by-election has finally put the places that make up the Makerfield constituency into the national spotlight. They have been neglected by national politics for too long. It is a good thing that all political parties are now on the hook to tell the voters here what they are going to do for them.
More than anything, people need life to be more affordable again. As Mayor, I have brought in changes which are helping, such as the £2 fare cap, free bus travel for our 16-18 year-olds and removing the 9.30am restriction from older and disabled people’s bus passes. But there is only so much I can do from Greater Manchester. If elected, I will have a relentless focus on reducing people’s everyday costs and bills and well as securing the investment these communities need.
I have been an elected representative in Greater Manchester for 25 years. Throughout that time, I have fought for the people of the North West of England on so many fronts. I am now ready to bring the whole weight of that experience to fighting for the communities of the Makerfield constituency and would be privileged to be given that opportunity.
(1/2) After the waiting list was suspended 2 years ago, the MP for Doncaster is expected to lead a debate in parliament about the city's audiology services.Sally Jameson says thousands of people have been affected, with some waiting five years for an assessment.

@btc8500 There continues to be a push for both passengers & freight to use rail, it reduces congestion & emissions.
Boris Johnson championed that half of all journeys into town & city centres would be walked or cycled by 2030.
It's about encouraging public transport, walking & cycling.
@btc8500 What your highlighting is a single town or city that they planned to work with as a trial, that might even be the previous Govt.
There is to be a ban on new petrol & diesel cars, that has been in place for a number of years.
@btc8500 What you are showing is a 2019 academic report from a UK university collaboration, led by the University of Cambridge, outlining how the UK can reach net-zero emissions by 2050.
It is not Government policy.
It is an academic report, nothing more.
Our plan is to regenerate the Waterdale area & the St Modwen building will be the first to be brought back to life.
I want to thank our partners at @rdash_nhs for committing to this project & providing a service that will be welcomed by many across #DoncasterIsGreat!
I am delighted that contracts for Health on the High Street initiative have now been finalised, & we can all now look forward to seeing @NHS services delivered in our city centre.
