Migrants play a vital role in Accra’s economy, and this initiative reaffirms our commitment to supporting them. Together, we are building a city where everyone can thrive.
The desk will work with stakeholders to collect data, develop policies, and build partnerships to improve opportunities for migrants. It also builds on the successes of the CLEAN Project, which integrated migrants into the informal waste sector.
As part of efforts to create an inclusive and equitable city, the Accra Metropolitan Assembly (AMA), in partnership with the @IOMGhana, has opened a Migrant Desk to support migrants in city.
I encourage school authorities and students to maintain these facilities to serve future generations. This project aligns with President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo’s vision of a resilient and clean Accra.
Earlier this week, the @AccraMetropolis under my leadership handed over three new institutional facilities to basic schools in the Okai Koi South Sub-Metro to address sanitation challenges in the city.
Today, the AMA partnered with DasBiogas to commission a state-of-the-art biogas plant right here at the City Hall, designed to process 180 tonnes of organic waste daily into clean energy!
My heartfelt thanks to all the stakeholders who have made this possible, especially DasBiogas Ltd., for their relentless dedication to creating solutions that transform waste into clean energy.
This donation is one of many ways the AMA is committed to advancing educational development across Accra. Let’s continue to support our students and provide them with the best learning conditions to succeed!
Today, I led the @AccraMetropolis to distribute 1,500 dual desks to selected basic schools across the city, demonstrating our commitment to creating comfortable, conducive learning environments for our students.
Accompanied by the Metro Coordinating Director, Douglas N.K Annoful, heads of department, and Assembly members, I also use the opportunity to urge all students to take good care of these desks, as maintaining these resources instills responsibility and respect for property.
