ICE moved detainees out of a Mesa facility ahead of a lawmaker visit, then it returned to being over capacity afterward.

Designed for 157 people, it has reached up to 800 between inspections, with detainees packed side by side or even on top of each other “like sardines.”

One of the warehouses ICE purchased is a 400,000 square foot facility in Surprise, AZ. They have awarded a $313,000,000 contract to run it to GardaWorld Federal, the company that ran Alligator Alcatraz so poorly. This is a human rights crisis in the making. Opening is Sep 2026

Here’s some facts: The SAVE Act is being pushed as if non-citizens voting is a widespread problem. The facts show the opposite.

A Brennan Center review of 23.5 million votes in the 2016 election across 12 states found about 30 suspected cases referred for investigation.

Michigan’s review of the 2024 election found 15 credible cases out of 5.7 million ballots (0.00028%).

A 2024 Georgia audit found 20 noncitizens on voter rolls out of 8.2 million registered voters, with 9 having voted in prior elections.

Voting as a non-citizen is already a federal crime under 18 U.S.C. §611. Penalties can include up to 5 years in prison, fines, deportation, loss of immigration status, and permanent barriers to citizenship. False claims of citizenship can bring additional felony charges.

In other words: it’s already illegal, already severely punished, and already extremely rare. Would you take the risk if you were a non-citizen? F NO!

The SAVE Act is a solution in search of a problem.

Best estimate: Under 1,000 illegal/non-citizen votes per federal election cycle nationwide (state audits & databases like Heritage show rates ~0.0001%, or dozens to low hundreds proven/suspected amid 150M+ ballots).

SAVE Act: 21+ million legal citizens lack ready passport/birth cert access; similar state laws blocked 10-30k+ eligible registrants each (99%+ citizens), risking millions disenfranchised via registration barriers.

Opinion: No—the tiny scale of illegal votes does not outweigh widespread barriers to legal voters.
