Migration, gender, race, and poverty scholar, mother of highly educated daughters, deities who one day will change the US! Driving the Latino pop. boom in NYC!
@BarackObama Happy birthday my dear (honorable former First Lady!) I admire your spirit and brilliance! I was a visiting fellow at Princeton in the Sociology Dept’s Center for Migration and Developemnt in 2012-14. Was sweetly surprised to see your picture in the Dept’s office as an alumn.I
@GiniaNYT
Dear Ginia, I write to ask if you used to cover news at Fordham Univ., circa 2007. I believe you wrote a news report on my research that year focused on daughters of immigrants in Holland. It is a pleasure to find one of your articles at CCNY, my present institution.
Hello Gina Bellafante, did you used to work at Fordham University's Rose Hill Campus in 2006-2008? I believe you interviewed me about my research among the daughters of immigrants in Amsterdam. But, now I am not all certain! But, thank you for your reporting about Ciro Escala.
@JenniSapio Thank you Jeniffer for sharing this. I miss things about teaching I took for granted: My students’ fresh faces, their silences when immersed on a topic we discuss or when simply bored! I miss their laughters, even the disapproving eyes of those I know would cost dearly to teach!
@nypost Social media or virtual reality and Hollywood’s culture of violence and greed lead some people, especially the young and the mentally ill, to grow up without regard foe others or compassion, leading to cruelties of this kind.
@PIX11News Omg! What savagery! This is a cowardly act and speaks of the decadence in social cohesion or care and humanity foe each other. One thing is rob someone; another is to brutally want to kill them!
@noah_erin@Deeesssstiny__ Im@so very sorry. May God give you strength to with this very painful loss, perhaps the most painful we could ever experience.
@JBanghart @brelouise_8 @RedHourBen Indeed. Thank you for this new perspective.’ It moves us away from blaming into each other when more than ever we need to ally and work together to help our nation heal.
@KatMeanJean @derrytweets What makes one to divorce after 20 or 30 years? Realizing that one has grown and matured and their partner hasn’t, that his/her vision of marriage, companionship or fidelity has changed or was a mirage!
@jencoles9 What other options to a divorce? Legal separation and time to receive counseling for you and the children, mostly, in preparation. Divorces are more painful, the longer you wait. Ideally, high school and colleges courses on marriage and divorce should be required.
@TinaBeattie @sox_morgan @reformed_ace Perfect! Love this! Again, children’s are our future! I have four daughters and Hooke each will use their higher education and humane upbringing to help make our society more just, especially for women and the “oppressed!”
@sox_morgan @reformed_ace I love this! I wish the child inside us could always remain unsilenced! Perhaps that’s what it will take@to create social change in religious oligarchies and their ancient and male dominated, ecclesiastical authorities!
@JoanThomas_Sky@reformed_ace Oh my God! This is much! As a sociologist and a Christian I am amazed at the different tone and content of sermons in my mother’s working poor and my own affluent middle class church: While her pastor speaks of a God of condemnation and restriction mine exalts him for his gifts!
