One of my favourite things to do as Mayor is welcome our newest Australians to our community.

Today I had the honour of presiding over 113 new Australian Citizens from 22 different countries at two citizenship ceremonies at @BurwoodCouncil. Congratulations! #WelcometoBurwood

Today I have written to all impacted Councils on the recent Sydney Metro West Project delay reports.

We will be meeting next Thursday to discuss this as a matter of urgency and to unify in our call for the NSW Government to recommit to the Sydney Metro West as soon as possible.

I will be writing to all impacted Council’s advocating for a joint campaign against the delay of this project, & will continue to engage with our Transport Minister, State Member, media, stakeholders & residents to ensure we are not met with vague reassurances & broken promises.

At last night’s meeting, Council endorsed my Mayoral Minute where I expressed my frustration and concern in response to continued media reports suggesting the NSW Government will delay or cancel the Sydney Metro West Project.

Shortly after the Premier was elected, I made it a priority to write to him, urging him to keep his promise to our community and recommit to the Sydney Metro West Project. As feared, this crucial piece of community infrastructure is now at risk.

The Burwood North Metro Station is not only required, it is expected.

I am calling on the NSW Government to honour their commitment to our community and seek every possible course of action to keep this project delivered on time, and as promised.

I am frustrated to hear reports today from the Daily Telegraph that the Minns Government is considering delaying the Metro West Project. 1/4

If the reports are true, our community will suffer the consequences, an unacceptable outcome.

The Burwood Railway Station has been at capacity for years now, and alone can no longer meet the needs of our residents and visitors. 3/4

A moving Commemorative Service this morning, remembering the sacrifice and legacy of our National Servicemen and honouring those men and women serving today.

It was great to catch up with resident Bruce recently when I was out and about, and I was honoured to attend his 40 year anniversary celebrations at L'Arche NSW over the weekend. What an incredible man and journey!
