After a very long hiatus, delighted to reconnect with two seasoned colleagues from my former life in #Cyprus’ diplomatic service—both esteemed Ambassadors of #Jordan. Dr Masen Armouti (The Hague, 2000–03) & @MazenHomoud (London, 2013–19).

The peripatetic life of diplomats often takes us in different directions. But the bonds of friendship & shared memories remain steadfast.

We broke bread in #Amman. We spent hours reminiscing about shared experiences, the whereabouts of colleagues & tackling pressing issues of our times.

Our conversation spanned the dire humanitarian crisis in the Middle East, the devastation in Gaza, the fall of Assad’s regime & the complexities of the East Med.

As we also looked ahead to the challenges of the upcoming #Trump administration, one thing was clear: Our region & its proud & ancient peoples deserve a future of dignity, peace, development & justice.

Diplomacy in @CyprusMFA & @ForeignMinistry may be in our past, but the bonds & the shared commitment to peace, dialogue, respect, tolerance & human dignity endure.

#Jordan condemns in strongest words the Israeli attack on the #Jordan Army Field Hospital in #Gaza that injured 7 Jordanian medical personnel. The hospital has been operating there since 2009 providing medical services to the population.

عمّان- ١٥ تشرين ثاني،٢٠٢٣، قال الناطق الرسمي باسم وزارة الخارجية وشؤون المغتربين السفير د. سفيان القضاة إن الأردن يدين بأشد العبارات القصف الإسرائيلي في محيط المستشفى الميداني الأردني في غزة الذي أدى إلى إصابة سبعة من كوادر المستشفى خلال محاولتهم إسعاف مواطنين فلسطينيين كانو قد أصيبوا خلال قصف إسرائيل ونقلهم مواطنين فلسطينيين إلى قسم الطوارئ.

وقال الناطق الرسمي باسم الوزارة إن تعريض إسرائيل المستشفى وطواقمه للخطر خلال قصفها الأشقاء الفلسطينيين جريمة مرفوضة ومدانة وتمثل خرقاً واضحاً للقانون الدولي. وقال إن الحكومة الأردنية تحمل قوات الاحتلال الإسرائيلية المسؤولية الكاملة عن تعريض حياة الطواقم الطبية الأردنية للخطر.

وقال القضاة إن الحكومة تنتظر نتائج التحقيق الذي بدأته القوات المسلحة-الجيش العربي لاتخاذ الخطوات القانونية والسياسية اللازمة ضد هذه الجريمة النكراء.

ودان القضاة جرائم الحرب التي ترتكبها إسرائيل في غزة ضد جميع المستشفيات الفلسطينية خرقًا فاضحًا للقانون الدولي الإنساني ولاتفاقية جنيف الرابعة لعام ١٩٤٩.

وأكد ضرورة اتخاذ المجتمع الدولي موقفاً واضحاً وصريحاً يدين جرائم الحرب الإسرائيلية ويوقفها.

و شدد الناطق الرسمي على ضرورة امتثال إسرائيل، القوة القائمة بالاحتلال، لالتزاماتها بموجب القانون الدولي، لا سيما القانون الدولي الإنساني، وبشكل خاص الامتناع عن مهاجمة المستشفيات كأماكن محمية وعدم اتخاذ أية إجراءات تحول أو تعرقل قيام الكوادر الطبية من القيام بمهامها.
