I have knows people who got into government at high positions

When I say I know, I mean I can call them and they tell me things off record, as in I know them

Let me tell you about One who was appointed

The summary is this, The only was to avoid corruption is to very openly and publicly signal you will not partake in corruption

My friends, when appointed, got a call, they wanted to pay his relocation allowance or something, the civil servant asked him

1. How many traveling?
2. Should I process request or credit to your account ?

Friend told the guy, to wait until resumption

Later it was, what car do you want? Will you stay in hotel?

Friend was telling me these questions were designed to cause them to process a check outside the normal practice

After two weeks of requesting they understood my friend was not going to play ball.

They waited for contracts.

Someone told my friend that if the desire was to ask the civil servants to process a payment expeditiously, then sign top right of letter or attach complimentary card, my friend then made it a point of duty to sign same place for all letters and date it.

My friend went as far as getting an excel project software and documenting what was signed, date, and expected action. The staff knew he had it, it was to signal don’t delay payments, “I know what and when I signed”

Same with recruitment, same with resumption to work, same with waste.

My friend will travel, come back and retire his funds.

Civil servants are the alpha and omega of corruption, not saying civil servants are corrupt but a minister of MD can’t raise a payment voucher and sign, nor can civil servants alone

Remember Minister of Health Grange? What happened to her?

Corruption is joint wink and nod, the civil servants will “mistakenly” buy first class tickets for you and your wife to travel, then the travel agent will call PA and say “ sorry for our error, can we refund or change name on ticket”

All are honey traps

Can you imagine if Dr Obi Ezekwesili was in charge of that humanitarian ministry? Can you imagine the due process?
