Hard to know which is more shocking - the apocalyptic warnings of the potential collapse of our food supply in the UK or the shameful fact that governments have tried to cover it up. Their complacency is off the scale …
The Royal Shakespeare Company’s decision to dismantle its music department should concern many more people than just the musicians whose posts are at risk, writes Irving David 👇 https://t.co/KyQeizO8Aa
For decades, dependence on fossil fuels meant dependence on volatility. In past oil shocks, countries had little choice but to absorb the pain.
Now they have an exit ramp: Homegrown renewable energy has never been cheaper, more accessible, or more scalable.
The resources of the clean energy era cannot be blockaded or weaponized. There are no price spikes for sunlight & no embargoes on the wind.
The fastest path to energy security, economic & national security is clear:
Speed up a just transition away from fossil fuels & toward renewable energy.

Stop rattling the nuclear saber.
Halt the arms races.”

Around the world, medicinal and aromatic plants are woven into the daily lives of billions of people.
From ginseng to agarwood, the international trade of more than 1,500 species is regulated under @CITES.

Human rights lift the world to a better place.
When rights are upheld, people live more freely.
Economies grow more fairly.
Communities trust more deeply.
And peace & stability take hold because dignity takes root.
Human rights are not an obstacle to progress – they are essential to progress.
We may speak thousands of languages but we all call this planet home. 🌍💚
While our languages are different, care for our Earth is universal.
This #MotherLanguageDay, let’s celebrate all the voices that connect us and speak up for the one planet we all share.
Whilst it was obvious that Labour’s pointless water company bonus ban would be evaded, the more important point is that it is an utter distraction. Bonuses are a tiny rounding error of the cost of fixing illegal outfalls & banning them does nothing to get spades in the ground to fix the problem.
What we actually need is 3 things:
1. On the ground investigations on every river in England to find the illegal outfalls, quantify their harm & devise solutions.
2. A detailed staged plan in practical terms of how every single illegal outfall will be fixed within 10 years.
3. The Environment Agency being directed (and funded) to prosecute every single illegal outfall to the full extent of the law til they are fixed.
The rest is frankly irrelevant noise.
“We are nowhere near the stated goals of the Paris Agreement.”
That is not new information. It's confirmation.
MIT’s Center for Sustainability Science and Strategy shows that global temperatures and emissions are still rising as leaders stall and polluters keep business as usual.
Without real #climateaction, the planet keeps getting hotter. That’s not cool.

⚠️The River Wye - one of the UK’s most iconic and protected rivers - is on the brink of ecological collapse.
☠️ Once a vibrant natural asset, it is now suffocating under the weight of agricultural pollution.
👉We need action NOW. The Government must ensure the upcoming White Paper tackles agricultural pollution at its source and delivers real protection for the #RiverWye, before it's too late. @SaveTheWye
🛑 Just 3% of the most vital UK habitat for wildlife is in good condition. This MUST change or wildlife will be lost forever.
Govt just quietly released a report showing the #ClimateCrisis & water pollution are driving wildlife decline, yet protections are being weakened @WCL_News

Shocked by reports of violence & excessive use of force by the Iranian authorities against protesters resulting in deaths & injuries in recent days.
The rights to freedom of expression, association & peaceful assembly must be fully respected & protected.
I urge the Iranian authorities to exercise maximum restraint & refrain from unnecessary or disproportionate use of force.
I also urge steps that enable access to information in the country, including restoring communications.
Pollution undermines the human right to a healthy environment.
It also affects other rights, including health, water and food, hitting the most vulnerable the hardest.
@UNEP is calling for bold, urgent action to #BeatPollution and protect people’s rights.
Our planet is under strain like never before.
Temperatures rising, biodiversity collapsing & nearly every person on Earth breathing unsafe air.
But there is hope.
With the tide turning in favor of renewables & the help of the next generation, transformation is within reach.
The latest attempt at a #COP30 climate agreement is in – and it is a major letdown.
The draft text has zero commitments to end fossil fuels or stop deforestation. This won’t stop #ClimateChange and puts our future at risk.
We’re calling on countries to fix it – today. We can’t let ministers sign off on a deal that puts communities and nature on the line.
But it isn’t over. Not yet. The time to turn this around is now. Share this post and call for URGENT ACTION at #COP30
My message to ministers and negotiators here at #COP30:
Engage in good faith to reach an ambitious compromise.
1.5°C must be your only red line.
Be bold.
Follow the science.
Put people above profit.
This is the hour for leadership.
