Four things all great coaches have:
1. High character.
2. Great leadership and people skills.
3. A vast knowledge of their sport.
4. The ability to teach their sport effectively.
I believe that CONFIDENCE comes from these 3 things:
1. Preparation: Putting in the long hours & hard work
2. Self-Talk: Control of your thoughts, building belief & eliminating self-doubt
3. Momentum: Consistency overtime without interruption (illness, injury, etc)
Client: “wow, he/she is expensive.”
Maybe so, however, realize
that when you are paying an expert in his or her field for an hour of their time, you aren’t paying for that hour, you are paying for the numerous years they have accumulated in skills, knowledge and experience.
Our work is done as coaches when those we coach take ownership of their development and performance. But that can only happen if we first take ownership of the process which prepares them to do so.
