@David_Leheny Also, just a gentle nudge to avoid the language of “suffering” a disability. Many of us tojisha don’t view our bodies and minds as faulty, but rather the fact that society has yet to accommodate our full participation.

@David_Leheny Lots to say here. The stats don’t reflect reality due to diagnostics difficulties, stigma around (self)identification, and failed attempts to remove barriers in the environment to education pipeline. Official responses have also been inadequate (see recent UN CRPD rebuke).

@Clarksterh @japantimes There have been major changes. The Barroer Free Transport law was passed in 2000, so you saw the early days of implementation. Since then, there have been several laws aimed at improving access, raising awareness, and eliminating discrimination. Not fully realized, but a start.
