Today in RW, we rolled out a protocol to help ss work productively during partner reading! Students learned to hold one another accountable by engaging in a short discussion about what they worked on during independent reading before they begin reading #WeAreChappaqua #RBPride

First graders learned about bonus letters in phonics! Students loved using the Tree Map to write and sort words that followed the rule. Afterward, we used a gallery walk to assess one another’s work. @ThinkingMaps #WeAreChappaqua #RBPride

Ss love using diff color pens during WW! I love it too bc it makes their thinking visible & gives insight into whether they understand the writing process. It’s a work in progress, but black is for planning/drafting, blue is revising & green is editing. #WeAreChappaqua #RBPride

First graders read the book, You Are Enough. Students learned to be proud of who they are and to embrace their individuality. They painted self portraits to show just how unique and special they are! #WeAreChappaqua #RBPride

Today we created a “fish bowl” in Reading Workshop to show what a good book club looks like and sounds like. We talked about what we noticed and then the clubs met to discuss their own texts! #WeAreChappaqua #RBPride

During our read aloud discussion circle, we kept track of how many people shared, used evidence from the text and encouraged others to talk. This helped us reflect on our strengths and where we can still improve! #WeAreChappaqua #RBPride

1st Graders recorded themselves reading their published All About Books on @Seesaw At our celebration, ss listened to each other’s books to learn about the various topics & gave feedback. We put our QR codes on the cover so we can share our work with the world! #WeAreChappaqua

As a part of our NF unit, we read about @StevieWonder! Students learned about his achievements&the impact he’s made. We wrote about what we learned using the RAP strategy. Ss loved hearing his music as they wrote! Did my best to incorporate the 5 pursuits @GholdyM @ThinkingMaps

After learning about the impact of MLK, students decided they wanted to make a change in the world too. They wrote about a dream they have, why it’s their dream and how they can do their part in making the change! #WeAreChappaqua #RBS

We created a class cookbook! Students wrote the steps explaining how to make a special recipe from their culture. This project was not only a fun way to jumpstart our How To unit, but also to celebrate our differences! #RBPride #WeAreChappaqua
