Yesterday, we conducted a Weyonje Drive clean-up exercise at Ggaba Market, led by the Deputy Executive Director, @BenonKigenyi , together with the Town Clerk of Makindye, Thomas Sentongo, and local council leaders.
The exercise involved health inspections, waste collection and evacuation, sensitization on proper sanitation and hygiene practices, and the enforcement of food safety standards.
We call upon all vendors, especially food handlers, to maintain high standards of hygiene and sanitation to safeguard public health.
Together, we can keep Ggaba Market clean, safe, and healthy for all.

🇪🇺 On 9 May, we mark Europe Day, a reminder that peace, unity, democracy, and cooperation are never passive ideas. They are built through dialogue, solidarity, and collective action.
💪 For the AU-EU Youth Voices Lab - Power of the Collective, this day speaks directly to our mission: creating stronger connections between Africa and Europe and ensuring that young people are recognized as partners in shaping more inclusive, sustainable, and youth-responsive societies.
🌍 Europe Day reminds us all that cooperation can transform challenges into shared progress, from education and employment to climate action, inclusion, and democratic participation.
🤝 Today, we celebrate the power of connection, the value of cross-continental collaboration, and the role of young people in building the future they want to live in.
🧩 Engage. Empower. Connect.

Yesterday at City Hall, we convened a powerful multi-sector dialogue, bringing together government, academia, civil society, & development partners to confront Kampala’s air quality issue.
Our PM2.5 levels average 50.4 µg/m³, nearly 5 times above WHO safe limits yet close to Uganda's target set by NEMA. The causes are clear ;traffic emissions, open burning of waste, and reliance on biomass fuels.
At @KCCAUG, we are acting decisively by:
- Deploying over 100 air quality monitors to guide real-time interventions.
- Construction of 22 signalised junctions (with more underway) to ease congestion and cut emissions.
- Expanding modern road infrastructure, safer walkways, and cycling routes.
- Strengthening waste management through the 5Rs - Reduce, Refuse, Recycle, Reuse & Repurpose.
We appreciate our partners @MoWT_Uganda , @MEMD_Uganda , @Makerere , @kyambogou university, among others
Clean air is not a privilege, it is a public good and a fundamental human right.
Kampala deserves better, and we must deliver it for a livable city.
