Heard a funny narrative today:

“Everyone from crypto is moving to AI, because AI has actual use cases and crypto is dead”

Why is it crypto or AI? Do you not see this is all an intertwined future? Some people are very short sighted.

In the future, everyone is going to live online. People already live a lot of their lives online - their phones, their laptops, etc - but this is only the beginning. With AR/VR, everything will be virtual. Jobs are moving almost all online, no offices, and outside of work, people’s spare time is moving more and more online. Virtual worlds are being built (meta verses) where people can buy land, rent properties. Meetings, meetups, everything will be done in the Metaverse with VR headsets. Everything will look and feel real.

Ever seen Ready Player One? This is a scarily accurate look into the future.

On top of this, AI is coming fast and will displace most real world jobs that aren’t already online. Self driving cars will replace all transport jobs, manufacturing jobs will be done my AI machines. Some estimates project 300 million or more jobs globally will be replaced by AI soon.

People aren’t just going to stop working. More jobs will be created online and in the metaverse. Would-be auto mechanics in the real world will become auto tuners in the metaverse. Love design? People will want fancy pads in their virtual lives too.

How will people pay things in the new virtual-first world, where maybe you’re interacting with an avatar and you have no idea what country they live in in the real world? You definitely won’t be asking for their wire transfer account numbers and go to a bank to send them a $10 payment. It will all be done digitally from one self-custodial crypto wallet to another.

AI will also come alive. Online they will be indistinguishable from real world people. How are they going to pay for things? Are they going to get a bank account? Nope. They will set up wallets and be sending micro transactions to other AI agents to complete tasks. Your car will go out driving people around while you sleep, earning you passive income.

The real world will still exist, just a lot less used, but will become financialized as most people will become owners/investors in the things they love. Love a certain restaurant? It will become tokenized and the restaurant will reward loyalty by giving you fraction of ownership with every purchase. Same goes for almost every company. How is this possible? Through crypto.

Crypto will be the digital payment rails of the future, online and offline. I have zero doubt about this. Global borders will break down. Everyone will be paying for things across the world with people they’ve never met and don’t know in real life. Real world transactions will all be through crypto wallets with QR codes. Instant, cheap, peer to peer.

If I have 20 starbucks tokens in my wallet, and want to buy a chair, the owner of the chair wants 0.002 ETH, he can just scan the payment request QR and the tokens can be converted instantly to the payment token of choice for the owner and placed in his wallet. New chair owner receives an NFT that is tied to the physical chair to prove ownership. This can be done for everything.

The only way to do this sustainably is with a permissionless financial system that isn’t based on fiat that only makes people more poor over time through the worst tax you can put on citizens, inflation.

I don’t know what the base currency of the future will be, Bitcoin, Ethereum, maybe there will be many based on what ecosystem you’re in.

Anyways, the future is going to be wild. Crypto will be a big part of it, as will AI. This is all an intertwined part of the future digital + tokenized world that is coming.
