A decade ago, our church ceased upkeep on a peaceful, lightly wooded lot next to our sanctuary. That was a grave mistake. Soon, thick wisteria vines encircled ninety-year-old pine trunks, choking them like snares. One day, a brother and I donned chainsaws and axes and began the work of reclaiming the land. While hacking away at vines, God opened my eyes to essential lessons of spiritual warfare. Three years later, the land is still being cleared, and God is still teaching.
Here is what I’ve learned:

Today’s spiritual lesson with Tater: What’s in your hand? When God calls us to do something, chances are we already have everything needed to accomplish it. Be encouraged. God bless! https://t.co/GrK0zCyy2e

Praise is a powerful, often overlooked spiritual weapon proven violently effective against the enemy, can never harm a soldier of Christ, cannot be over-applied, and works reliably, with devastating effect.

Today’s writing procrastination: rust cut out on Tater’s passenger side floor. This repair is a long time in coming. It’s probably the most critical structural repair I’ve done to date. We will see how it progresses. It only took a couple hours today to do the cuts. Fabricating and welding back good metal takes much longer, so this will be at least a week’s worth of writing procrastination. Truck is a 1962 F250.

God has to tear away our old identity before he can begin a new work (Isaiah 43:18-19). If you are in a season where you feel God is tearing away parts of you, and it seems reckless, even as if losing your very self, then lean into it. Don't stretch it out over time, but learn as much as you can and get through all of the lesson at once. Those things were never you in the first place. Only then will the new work begin, and you'll learn who he truly made you to be.

Christian, you belong to God, so any evil tempting you is on land it does not own, gripping possessions it stole, pretending to hold positions it does not, and tormenting a citizen of a kingdom in which it is illegally residing. https://t.co/Kv7lMJVSsr
Today’s writing procrastination: adding caster shims to Tater. A fun project, on the easier side, and though there was improvement, above 35 mph it still feels like the steering wheel is connected by Bluetooth. At least the truck goes where you point it, which is a marked improvement from a year ago. Now, back to writing…

It’s been a journey over the last year. TONS of work on Tater, plus working on my novels, plus also writing several articles from a Christian worldview. Check them out on Substack if interested. More updates to come. https://t.co/GrK0zCz5RM
Not every thought that enters your head is of you. Not every emotion comes from your own spirit. Not every desire arises from your own heart.

In a lumberjack camp, other than the cook, the highest paid laborer was the saw sharpener. Keeping the large crosscut saws in top shape was highly technical. These tools contain sets of teeth sharpened on opposing sides and are designed to work when drawn in both directions. Forgiveness cuts both ways as well.

C.S. Lewis once said, “There are two equal and opposite errors into which our race can fall about the devils. One is to disbelieve in their existence. The other is to believe, and to feel an excessive and unhealthy interest in them.“ https://t.co/ZnG4OqaEzS
