Love any excuse to incorporate Legos into a class! Students brought their concepts of renewable energy sources to life and critically assess how sustainable these ideas are...as well as the irony of using Legos
New paper out of the Fluker Lab on life history aspects of the Caddo Madtom! Just one of many amazing projects led by Brittany McCall (@McCallMeB). The paper can be found here: https://t.co/VzCCb5gO8l
It's been a great experience working alongside @Augustana_IL students in environmental studies. Students collected data for their class project while gathering data that will be used to inform management decisions in local watersheds of the Quad Cities.

It has been a blast having madtoms in the lab! Seeing their curious faces pop out of their choice of cover makes you smile. This cutie really loves the inside of the heater
Thermal tolerance of madtoms progress:
✅ Black River Madtom
◼️ Caddo River Madtom - a species of greatest conservation need for Arkansas and will be in review for federal listing next year. With streams warming it is important to understand if they can acclimate to warmer temps
Tomorrow I am going wayy out of my comfort zone and presenting a habitat suitability model on the Etowah Darter @McCallMeB and I developed. This plant nerd is about to spend two days talking fish and I couldn't be more excited! @SEFishesCouncil

So excited to have madtom catfish in the lab! It's been interesting to say the least. Probably my favorite moment, building them homes and seeing them choose the space within the heater and under the filter sponge instead 🤦 just like a cat choosing the box over a bed
