@SuperScotties families don’t forget to come to school tonight for the SOL review night for grades 3-5. We hope to see you there! There will be pizza, fun review games, and a raffle. Come learn about the SOLs with us and our awesome title I teachers.
We had a great first day back from break! The science center came to visit again to help us learn about sound. Students experimented with sound by using tuning forks, slinkies, instruments, and cans to learn more about pitch and frequency. We even made our own old school phones!
This week our @SuperScotties scientists learned about different types of cells and the organelles inside them. After discussing the organelles jobs, they got to create their own model using jello and candy. They even got to eat some parts of their cell models. They ❤️ science!
The Children’s Science Center came back to visit us today and helped us learn about plants. We learned about photosynthesis and how bugs help pollinate flowers. Our students made a garden and bugs to demonstrate pollination. They also got to plant some radishes to bring home!
We have a super cool AP at Loch Lomond! Mrs. Greene brought in her pet snake, Victor, to help us learn about adaptations this week. We learned about behavioral and structural adaptations. Our kids are loving learning about science❤️@SuperScotties
Our @SuperScotties Science Club had fun being biologists yesterday! They learned about ecosystems and we went outside on a nature walk to find items for our terrariums. Students loved making a new home for their worm to live in. Thanks @GreeneLLES for a fun and engaging lesson!
Thanks to @RochelleAllen21 for helping our class learn about makey makey circuits last week. Our class had so much fun making music using the circuits and testing to see which items were conductors. One group was able to use all the conductors at once to make music on the piano!
Our @SuperScotties scientists also explored and learned about static electricity today with balloons. They had fun making static electricity and seeing some of the effects it has. Everyone liked seeing their hair stick up and follow the balloon’s direction.
The 5th grade @SuperScotties geologists favorite activity was making a core sample of the layers of the earth with playdoh. Their second favorite activity was getting to use a variety of tests on different rocks in order to identify the type of rock using the data collected.
Our @SuperScotties geologists had fun making the layers of the Earth, testing and categorizing rocks, and looking at fossils today. Thanks to the Children’s Science Center for coming to our school! We ❤️ science!
It was a wonderful Valentine’s Day with our class & reading buddies! We did fun activities in Mrs. Dean’s room & then made a big heart about all the things we love about our class. The kids were excited to share with their classmates. Kindness matters week is off to a great start
