Earlier this month we released the State of Working Wisconsin 2025.
Alongside the report, Laura Dresser reflects in the Isthmus on this year’s deep disruption for workers in Wisconsin.

Got it - our descent into authoritarianism has nothing to do with Republican and their embrace of fascism - it’s Democrat’s fault…. https://t.co/T0rKS8CqsD
Some thoughts from me this #LaborDay: It’s hard to imagine a worse friend to workers than Trump: stripping #union rights, gutting wage protections, & firing career civil servants isn’t pro-worker—it’s a war on #labor@NewAmericaEd@NewAmerica

Wow - David Leonhardt makes M Gessen’s case on how moving to the right in an effort out outflank autocrats plays right into their hands. Leondhardt is more interested Democrats “Trump Derangement Syndrome” than dealing with our slide into autocracy..

Important to remember that Trump isn’t trying to heal or keep the peace. He is looking to inflame and divide. His movement doesn’t believe in democracy or protest - and if they get a chance to end the rule of law they will take it. None of this is on the level.

I’m about to board my flight to El Salvador, where I hope to meet with senior government officials to discuss the return of Kilmar Abrego Garcia.
I also hope to see Kilmar and check on his condition — and remind him that we won’t stop fighting until he’s home.

Top of mind for LERA after the Mar. 14 presidential action is how important of the FMCS is to business owners and workers alike. It is low investment, high return for the economy. See our statement at https://t.co/Z3Bp00qsmv
When I cast my vote, I’m representing the nearly 8 million people in Washington state.
In this democracy their voices count for something—so you better believe I am not handing over my vote in exchange for nothing.
I am voting NO on the House Republicans' slush fund CR.
Humanities degrees do pay off in the long run. Our research shows that students who go to liberal arts colleges, over the long term, earn a total of about $200K more than all college graduates. @hechingerreport@JonMarcusBoston https://t.co/Kosh39ABRV
To be clear - this is an act of violence against hard-working career servants, against the middle class, against workers everywhere… It is cruel, unnecessary, and obviously illegal…
Scoop: Per person familiar, "reduction in force" notices for the Education Department are expected to go out today at 6pm.
Nearly half of the department is expected to be eliminated.
