Exactly. The savior is not sitting over there on the bench or he would be playing already or at minimum created some competition.

There’s a reason this coaching staff protects Marcel even though it would be in their best interest to get him more involved in designed runs and things he does best.

If you had high confidence in his back up and your depth , you would not go out of your way to keep him healthy by trying to make him something he’s not… A pocket passer

There is something noticeably missing from this team as opposed to last year. Last year, from the first snap, there was more of a “fire” like the team had something to prove. This team seems entirely flat, and the magic is just not there. Praying it changes.

I think the main problem is that with 22 career starts, years in the program and an offensive system that is not significantly different than what he’s been in, there is overwhelming evidence at this point that a “reset” is not happening. He is what he is. Streaky. Sometimes he’s electric and looks like the best player on the field. Sometimes he looks like a practice squad player. His pocket pocket presence, timing, reads and passing have all regressed. That’s not an apply and reset situation. 19 interceptions in 22 starts. That is not even close to good enough for what this program is spending.

Does not appear we have quality depth at QB. The backup is always the easy answer but unfortunately this staff failed at what should have been a priority coming out of the debacle of Texas and Miami games…..finding a QB in the portal who could push Marcel and take his job. Instead Elko spent time lecturing everyone for not giving Marcel the respect he deserves and we got a full offseason of hearing how much better he is.

@JayPops5 Elko has a 35% cover rate ATS in his time here, 10-18 in 28 games. Last year 5-8 against the spread and overall 4-11 at home and the bigger the spread the less likely he covers. Hope they win but fade the Aggies if you’re betting. 👎
