Most people don’t fail from lack of potential.
They fail because nobody ever made the standard real.
I learned that in the Navy, then as a dad.
You get what you reward. Softness included.
I write about building kids, teams, and yourself without the therapy-speak.
If that’s useful, stay. If it isn’t,
The Navy does not care how you feel about the standard.
That is why it worked.
Most of what people call “empathy” now is just lowering the bar so nobody has to be uncomfortable.
Kids can smell that. So can sailors.
You want grit? Make the standard visible, keep it, and stop apologizing for it.
Most soft parenting fails for the same reason most organizations fail.
You reward the wrong things and then act surprised when you get the wrong outcomes.
Kids who never face real standards don’t suddenly develop grit when life demands it.
Whatever you’re facing, you don’t have to face it alone.

@JohnRustad4BC Incentives drive outcomes. When the system rewards following process more than putting the fire out, you get exactly this. Ownership dies the second the process becomes more important than the result.
@LegioInvictus24@johnkonrad Standards only matter when they are enforced the same way for everyone. Selective enforcement is how organizations slowly stop recognizing themselves.

@AmericaPapaBear Same standard applies to daughters. Softness is not kindness. They will face the same world. Better they learn to carry weight now than break under it later.
