For 14 years, Dan Simpson spent his evenings delivering pizzas around Boise, Idaho after finishing his regular job. It was a routine he never expected anyone to notice.

On March 28, 2026, one delivery turned into something unforgettable.

The customer had ordered a Diet Coke, but the Domino's store had run out. Rather than arrive empty handed, Dan stopped at a nearby convenience store, bought the drink with his own money, and delivered it without charging a single extra cent.

When the customer offered to pay him back and leave a bigger tip, Dan smiled and declined.

"That's already a good tip," he said.

The customer later learned Dan was only weeks away from retirement after 14 years of delivering pizzas as his second job. The Ring doorbell video was shared online, and people across the country were moved by the quiet kindness of a man who never expected anything in return.

There was another detail Dan didn't know that night. The customer and his wife are visually impaired, and his decision to stop for that Diet Coke spared them a difficult trip to the store.

What Dan thought was just a quick stop meant far more to the family than he ever imagined.

Thousands of strangers came together to thank him the only way they could. A GoFundMe raised 171,635 USD, giving him a retirement he never expected.

All because one delivery driver believed that doing the right thing was simply part of the job.
