I'm trying to teach fractions more thoroughly with our Year 7s this year. I've created a simplifying fractions activity incorporating some of the prior work we've done on divisibility and product of prime factors. Full ppt with definitions, worked examples and answers on TES.

@LeightonM4ths @DrBennison @TLMaths @Whitehughes @robotmaths My understanding is that the square root sign means positive square root. That's why we need a +- in the quadratic formula. We only use +- as solutions to equations as both are solutions which would work.

Last Thursday was my baby Busby’s worst day in Paediatric Intensive Care -we nearly lost him 3 times. A new Doctor arrived, masked up,& started treating him absolutely expertly-the treatment saved his life. When my baby was stable the Dr thanked me.

@hartmaths I've managed to find a workaround. Not quite as good, but there is a 'raise hand' feature in Google Meet. I've been asking students to raise their hands when they finish Q4 of 8 for example, and it's helped me with pacing a lot. Thanks for the tip!
