@SipsWithSerra I think the only argument for it would be when you can not contain a prisoner who poses imminent threat to other humans. But that technically isn’t the death penalty- more of a guard or police officer doing his job. I have nothing actually.
@paleochristcon I absolutely agree with Andrew’s take on this! It’s sad seeing Walsh and Knowles (who I respect) choosing to die on this hill when we as Catholics have an opportunity to unite people against the culture of death we live in. (Abortion, death penalty, euthanasia)
@appyobliged We are not defending this evil woman. God will judge her appropriately. We don’t feel the state should have the power to end someone’s life. And they have proven they can’t even do that properly . The death penalty in America is archaic, inhumane and needs to end.
@TraditionSarah Resuscitate means to initiate CPR to restart the heart and lung function. This woman’s heart was still beating and she was breathing. It would have been gross negligence to deny her the treatment she needed, a DNR order would not have been applicable here.
@lambeth981 I am Catholic. The church teaches against the death penalty in the modern era. I am not a theologian, but at the end of the day -I am Pro life. And that includes the death penalty and euthanasia. All three are wrong if you profess a pro life view. In my opinion. Peace
@lambeth981 Why the hell are you stuck on the word “evil”? I never said that. God did reveal in the 10 commandments that “Thou shalt not kill”
And that’s good enough for me.
I believe exceptions are made for self defense, and certain “just wars” determined by the church . Very few are.
@lambeth981 People were evil. Many of the laws and customs in the Old Testament were brutal and not brought forward into the Christian tradition after Christ. Contained prisoners should die a natural death. Obviously there are exceptions if a prisoner escapes and is an immediate threat.
@FoxNews@pdoocy Oh course he said that. Support for this war is non existent so let’s implicate Iran in whatever might have happened on that plane- send in the troops!
@petermlaffin I have to agree with you. I am a Catholic and have been pretty disappointed at many of the comments being made about Pike that are nothing short of bloodlust. The official catholic position is pro-life, anti-death penalty and anti-euthanasia. That’s also the Popes position.
@realCarola2Hope This whole event seems scripted to me. There are so many reasons why Trump and Netanyahu want it to be real- and that’s the part that causes me some serious pause..
@Jed_Bekah@LilaGraceRose If you read my entire comment you would see the part where I made an exception for “imminent” threat. A woman in a prison cell is not - and as long as she is contained, she should meet her maker at a point of natural death. My opinion is based on the New Testament, and the Pope.
@jared_shult I’m a conservative Christian (Catholic) and I am not against free lunch for kids in school. I would much rather my tax dollars were spent on children than overseas fighting endless wars.
@carynannharlos I consider myself a pro life libertarian- so I agree. God sends life and He takes it . The State nor an abortion doctor should interfere.
@DavidPollackUSA@Night_Driver86 I agree with both of you. I am a staunch pro life Catholic. And I advocate aggressively for the complete end to abortion and an end to the death penalty (with some exceptions for a prisoner posing imminent threat to others). Let God give life and end it as He sees fit.
