@TheLuisPanini@castorp76 La Notte by Campana is divine. Get the Canti Orfici in the Charles Wright translation and supplement with the Luigi Bonnafini for the introduction and notes. The City Lights book is good too.
@AmericanGwyn I love Branagh's film for his performance, a revelation to me when I first saw it. His casting (minus Winslet and Jacobi) and setting (why the 19th century?), not so much. Zeffirelli's is very good though, as is Gibson (and H.B. Carter).
@AmericanGwyn . . . And Justice for All was all I listened to in the fall of '89 at, yes, age 16. It still has the savor of autumn leaves for me. I love nearly all Metallica's work, but this one is still my favorite with a nod to MoP & RtL. And the Garage Days EP.
@ClassicalCritic@ionarts I kind of dipped in here and there, and it seemed good if not outstanding to me, a Karajan lover in Tchaikovsky. So yes, I take most all reviews with a grain of salt.
@ClassicalCritic@ionarts From Gregor Tassie's review: "I consider Sladkovsky’s accounts of the Third, Fifth and Sixth symphonies the finest on the market, against all contemporary recordings . . . There is a passion appropriate to this music, a fine discipline parallel with that of Mravinsky’s recordings
@ClassicalCritic@ionarts I have no idea how many cycles there are, but the discography you put together is great. However, I do have one you didn't include: Alexander Sladkovsky and Tatarstan National Symphony Orchestra on Sony. Musicweb gave it a postive review back in 2020 (?): https://t.co/ihBTxb0Ej2

49ers coach Kyle Shanahan on trading QB Trey Lance to the Cowboys: "He told us that he would like another opportunity to go somewhere where he had the chance to be the (No. 2 QB). There were a number of teams involved. To end up getting the (fourth-round pick) was a little better than we anticipated. It clears up a lot of money and it allows a better situation for him, too.
"I do think Trey needs an opportunity to play more. ... (The move is something) I think he's really excited about, especially (talking) to him today, I could tell he was."
