but a return to healthy community responsibility. A society where adults can kindly redirect a child, alert a parent to risky behaviour, and look out for one another's children without hostility. After all, children do not grow only in families. They grow in communities too.
The way some of us grew up, it was common for almost any responsible adult to correct us as a child. I was 'punished' by my parents, corrected by neighbours; teachers in school, distant uncles and aunties that visited once in a while,
If there is a child somewhere with maladaptive behaviour, correction of such child matters to me, even if the child isn't mine. We can't turn a blind eye on the basis of avoidance of conflict or accusation.
Perhaps the goal should not be a return to harsh community discipline,
If we want education to be effective, especially for young people, we must examine not just what we teach, but how meaning is received.
Because education doesnโt fail at content alone. It often fails at connection.

In many Nigerian homes in the past, indirect communication was common.
Back then, if I asked my mother, โMummy, where should I put this?โ I may hear, โPut it on my head.โ
And media exposure has trained young people to respond to clarity, not guesswork.
The lesson here isnโt that one generation was better than another.
Itโs that communication styles that once worked are not guaranteed to work in a different social and media reality.
