If you're going to go into a WC with laissez-faire coach like Martinez (also see Ancelotti's first game with Brazil this WC) then you have to accept that the players might resolve into a tactical mode that they use domestically and without the correct players it might fail.
🚨 BREAKING: Xabi Alonso was NOT informed by Chelsea that Marc Cucurella was joining Real Madrid!
HE FOUND OUT THROUGH @FabrizioRomano's tweet! @MatteMoretto
Goals by left wingers in the Premier League last season:
Gabriel Martinelli: 1
Garnacho: 1
Jeremy Doku: 5
Crysencio Summerville: 5
Leandro Trossard: 6
Anthony Gordon: 6
Iliman Ndiaye: 6
Cody Gakpo: 7
I genuinely don’t understand the outrage around Crysencio Summerville but I believe if his name was not Summerville but Ndiaye, fans would be over the moon.
Not every signing has to walk straight into the starting 11. We need depth, different profile to Cunha and also a genuine competition across the frontline.
Summerville is a direct winger who stretches the pitch, attacks full backs and brings pace and unpredictability we desperately need on that left side.
He can play either flank and wouldn’t arrive with demands to be a guaranteed starter which means having a content player with different profiles capable of changing games from the bench or rotating without a huge drop in quality.
He is entering his prime years, and despite West Ham’s struggles last season, he still had a decent campaign enough for him to make Netherland’s World Cup squad.
Is he my ideal target, No but giving his profile, age, ability and opportunity, i understand why INEOS are interested in him and I support that decision 100%.
What you have to remember about the Spain Cape Verde game is that in the last World Cup, Argentina did lose to Saudi Arabia and went onto win the whole thing. While they will be disappointed to draw 0-0, you can't rule Cape Verde out of winning the whole thing yet.
