I think I should clarify an earlier post. I will not be totally liquidating my herd, but I will probably be forced to get rid of one third to one half of my mature cows because of a lack of winter feed.
@1776_13 Had to change a blowout on my way to the Emergency Room after breaking my back in two places. Wife had just had knee replacement and wasn’t much help 😂
Never thought I’d see so many different opinions about the ground beef controversy. For some of us it boils down to a matter of timing. I have sympathy for people trying to feed a family and for them I wish beef was more affordable. For those of us facing drought the timing sucks
Things used to be much simpler. Replacing a battery used to be a 10 minute job and with any ingenuity you could make almost any battery work. Now you have to tear out a bunch of crud just to get to it and more crud to remove it. Then you need the exact battery for the application
It’s been a rough week. Took a nosedive Monday and been hard to sleep on my right side because of my shoulder. No rain and now it looks like the cattle market is going to fall out of bed. Should have sold my calves earlier but didn’t. Liquidating cows really sucks but I’m gonna.
High school football I played an odd combo, I played middle linebacker on defense and quarterback on offense. Had to learn to flip a switch between beast mode and calm and analytical. Being an owner operator is much the same. Need to attack the labor and analyze the business.
Unreal what a little nosedive can do. Feel like I’ve been hit by a semi. I used to be a Timex, could take a licking and keep on ticking. Now I’m more like a worn out grandfather clock, I creak and groan and complain loudly at least once every hour.
Just jumped down from my skid steer after loading mineral tubs and wedged the toe of my boot between the skid steer and the pallet forks. Busted myself pretty good, landed on my bad shoulder and it’s possible I broke something but probably nothing they can fix so ice it and work.
Have had my morning coffee, finished my crossword puzzles for the day and should have my chores done but I have not made it out the door yet. Facing a total lack of motivation this morning but here I go… time to make the donuts.
I use a tank monitor to check my level in a storage tank. The tank and well are about 10 miles away so I run the pump on a timer and monitor the storage. It saves me quite a few miles and I can tell if the pump has started at the correct time. Power outages mess it all up.
