It seems the DA got hold of the ANC playbook. After everything he has done as the minister, the DA managed to reward him with a deputy minister position.

This is a very ANC-esque move by a political party that has told us time and time again that they reward their members based on performance. If the ANC had to do this, everyone would be making noise, especially the DA supporters.

How can you perform so poorly as John has and be considered for a deputy minister position, and how is he qualified to be given a deputy minister position for trade, industry and competition?

Party Politics aside, I think any reasonable person will admit that John Steenhuisen was a terrible Agricultural Minister. He didn't listen to the farmers, was arrogant, doubled down on state control and decided to take the advice of his officials over that of actual farmers and people in the industry.

The irony being that when he was the leader, he fired Dion George and replaced him with Willie Aucamp. Now Willie Aucamp replaces him.

I place on record that @News24 refused to answer AfriForum’s questions regarding its parent company’s donations of R8 million to the ANC between 2021 and 2025. These questions were aimed at determining whether News24 considers it justifiable for its parent company to fund the ANC while numerous individuals in the ANC leadership have been implicated in corruption.

This question was relevant to AfriForum’s ability to respond effectively to News24’s enquiries, as reference is made to donations by one of the parent company’s fellow donors to the ANC, namely Thebe Stockbroking.
