When kids are deprived of play, their mental health suffers.
Over the past 50 years, the time kids spend playing outside and inside has plummeted. They're missing opportunities to bond, build self-control, be creative, and feel joy.
Free play is a key to happiness and growth.
📣 DLDday 2023 Theme Announcement!
There are over 7000 languages spoken across the world and Developmental Language Disorder (DLD) exists in every language. The translation of the term DLD may differ in many countries but DLD makes learning all languages a bit more difficult.
How is this actually my job?! ❤️ Providing staff training at a school tomorrow on how trauma affects speech, language and communication development and how we best can support our students. Feeling extremely grateful and happy about the increasing awareness around this! @RCSLT
Many people fail to benefit from constructive feedback because they overreact and undercorrect.
When a helpful suggestion feels like a big threat to your ego, you only make a small change to your habits.
The best way to learn is to overcorrect. Discomfort is a sign of growth.
I support schools, and hearing about all the children waiting for 3+years for SLT support/therapy/assessment is absolutely heartbreaking. That’s not a just a poor service - that’s a pandemic in itself. Rights are not being met. We’ll see implications of this for years #SLCN#SLT
Been trying to collate all my resources that I use online in one place and thought I would share this in case anyone else finds it useful: Listed assessments, websites, CPD and lesson plans and teaching websites #WeSpeechies#SLPeeps https://t.co/1STO1CY37t
I am a huge fan of #hedbandz, I think the game has so much potential to include in a session including working memory, building expressive language and listening comprehension.

Language is at the centre of all things at school. This can make learning & social interactions challenging for kids with DLD. Teachers are at the forefront in schools so let them know about DLD and ways to help support your child: https://t.co/mvV1QgYPQw
