- Cape Malay: Indonesian/Malaysian, Indian, Sri Lankan & Bangladeshi (Muslim) - brought in as slaves (also deemed a subset of Cape Coloureds)
- Masbiekers: European & Mozambican/Angolan/Malagasy/Eastern African Mix - brought in as slaves (also deemed a subset of Cape Coloureds)
- Griquas: European & Khoi/Xhosa/Tswana Mix (identified as Cape Coloureds during Apartheid, to get better treatment)
- Filipinos & Spanish Mix: Absorbed into Cape Coloureds, coming from the Philippines
- Oromo slaves from Ethiopia: settled in the Eastern Cape & were absorbed into Cape Coloureds
- Khoi-San: Indigenous South Africans (not mixed, but were forcefully grouped under Coloureds)
- Eastern Cape Coloureds: Boer & Xhosa/Khoi Mix
- Natal Coloureds: British & Zulu/Indian Mix (speak English)
