The only reason Pratt didn't go full MAGA is because that would be a nonstarter among even Republicans in LA and he was running in a nonpartisan election. He is as close as you can get to a MAGA mayor as possible.

Couple notes on this that reinforce what I say all the time:

➡️ Pratt was not a MAGA Republican candidate and backfilling the result with that explanation is not what happened.

➡️ Independents don’t vote. They have a worse turnout than Republicans even though they outnumber us in LA County. Crushing with NPPs only matters when the election is close.

➡️ We expected this election to be close and turnout low, so NPP support for Pratt was important in this race. It does NOT exclude potentially illegal (or unverifiable) ballot harvesting among Democrats that skyrocketed turnout at the last minute beyond expectations, disenfranchising these NPPs.

@LeePrevost @JamesSurowiecki @DrunkRepub It's not just young vs old. Raman campaigned on development and rent costs and got a huge share of LA renters. Democrats in single family homes largely voted early and voted for Bass. Lots of folks in high-density housing (slow mail) voted for Raman.
