Why is this patriot missing from the pages of our history?
Seth Ramdas Gudwala was one of the greatest financiers and revolutionaries of the 1857 War of Independence, yet his name remains largely forgotten.
Born into a wealthy Agarwal family in Delhi, Ramdas Gudwala was among the richest men in North India. A prominent banker and businessman, his wealth was the subject of popular legends. It was said that he possessed immense treasures of gold, silver, pearls, and diamonds.
When the flames of revolution reached Delhi in 1857, thousands of Indian soldiers gathered to fight the British. However, feeding, clothing, and paying such a force became a major challenge.
At this critical moment, Seth Ramdas Gudwala stepped forward.
He placed his enormous fortune at the service of the nation, providing food, clothing, grain, animals, supplies, and financial support for the revolutionary forces. He also helped organize intelligence networks and communication channels across North India, connecting revolutionaries, rulers, and military camps.
His activities became a nightmare for the British administration.
Determined to crush the resistance, the British eventually recaptured Delhi. Seth Ramdas Gudwala was arrested and subjected to unimaginable brutality.
According to accounts, he was tied to a post and attacked by hunting dogs before being publicly executed in Chandni Chowk as a warning to others.
Historian Tara Chand, in his work History of the Freedom Movement, described Seth Ramdas Gudwala as one of the wealthiest men in North India, whose vast resources were dedicated to the cause of freedom.
Yet today, few Indians know his name.
The story of Seth Ramdas Gudwala reminds us that India’s freedom struggle was not fought only by soldiers on the battlefield, but also by courageous patriots who sacrificed their wealth, influence, and ultimately their lives for the motherland.
How many more such forgotten heroes are still waiting to be remembered?
She held her 4-year-old son underwater.
Both tied to one life jacket.
Neither made it.
The wind warning came the day before.
The boat sailed anyway.
Life jackets were locked in a storeroom.
A father watched his wife and son disappear into the Narmada.
Nine dead.
One system. Zero accountability.
The water didn't kill them.
The indifference did.

A 4 year old girl was playing in the backyard in Chhota Udaipur, Gujarat. Suddenly, a leopard came and attacked her.
Her father heard her scream.
He ran toward the leopard and fought with just his bare hands. No weapon. No fear.
He fought, forced the leopard to open its jaws, and saved his daughter from death.
This is what a father looks like. He becomes wild when it is about his family and does not care who is in front of him.
Real hero.
Raghav Chadha, along with six Rajya Sabha members of AAP, has joined the BJP.
The funny part is that Ashok Mittal, who was appointed by Arvind Kejriwal as the new Deputy Leader in the Rajya Sabha replacing Raghav Chadha, is also among the seven joining the BJP.
23 yo Priyanshu Srivastava committed suicide after getting fed up with his father’s constant taunts.
>At the age of 5, his father stripped him naked and threw him out of the house for drinking juice from the fridge.
>throughout his life, his father kept mentally torturing him with taunts, while he always tried his best to support them.
>After 12th grade, he started giving tuition to help support the family, as they belonged to a middle class background.
>He neither had any addictions nor was he in bad company, yet his father would insult him daily, morning and evening, and threaten to throw him out of the house.
>He felt ashamed to go out in the neighborhood because he believed he had lost all respect due to his father’s behavior.
>In the end, after writing a two page suicide note describing the mental torture he had faced since childhood, he took his own life in a court premises
Last sentence of his suicide note - Please make sure my father does not touch my body, though I don’t want him to face any legal action.
Such cruel, tyrannical fathers still exist in many Indian households today, who mentally torture their sons in the name of their well being. Yet society often sees them as the ones to be pitied

Did you know that a 12-year-old child became one of India’s youngest martyrs in the freedom struggle?
A boy who should have been playing with toys…
stood fearlessly against the guns of the British Empire.
This is the story of Baji Raut, the brave son of Odisha.
On the night of October 11, 1938…
on the banks of the Brahmani River, in heavy rain and silence—
British policemen arrived and ordered young Baji to ferry them across.
They thought he would be scared.
They thought he would obey.
But in his eyes, there was no fear… only fire.
Baji refused.
“You are enemies of my country. I will not help you.”
Enraged, one of the officers struck him with a rifle butt.
But the young warrior did not step back.
Moments later, bullets were fired.
And that 12-year-old child… fell to the ground.
But his courage shattered the pride of an empire.
Baji Raut didn’t just lose his life that night—
he became immortal in the history of India’s freedom struggle.
Salute to this young revolutionary, whose bravery reminds us that courage has no age. 🇮🇳🙏

ALL NINE COPS TO BE HANGED!!!
In a landmark judgement, the honourable First Additional District and Sessions Judge of Madurai, G Muthukumaran pronounced death penalty for all nine policemen in the Jeyaraj and Beniks custodial torture and death case.
Inspector S Sridhar, sub-inspectors P Ragu Ganesh & K Balakrishnan, head constables S Murugan and A Samidurai and constables M Muthuraja, S Veil Muthu, S Chelladurai & X Thomas Francis have all been found guilty of the double murder.
On 19th June 2020, Jeyaraj went to his son’s mobile shop in at Sathankulam in Thoothukudi. Police arrested him for violating Covid rules.
Following the father’s arrest, Beniks went to the police station and requested for his father’s release. Beniks apparently had an argument with the cops. They arrested him also and tortured him and his father through the night and later sent to judicial remand.
Beniks died at Kovilapatti Government Hospital on 22nd June, 2020, and Jeyaraj passed away the next day.
The investigation later revealed that the mobile shop wasn’t open beyond the permissible hours. Basically a false case was slapped.
Later, a female constable, Revathi came forward to tell the truth of their torture. Not only were the son & the father beaten brutally throughout the night but were also made to clean up their blood off the police station floor and walls with their clothes.
Beniks sustained 13 external injuries and Jeyaraj had 17 wounds that ultimately led to their deaths. They were bleeding from their rectums when they were sent to jail!!!
Following a huge social media uproar and protests, there was pressure on the then Tamil Nadu government to conduct a fair investigation into their deaths.
If you go through the whole case, you will realise that 59 year old Jeyraj and 31 year old Beniks were killed purely because the ego of the policemen was hurt.
They were angry that Beniks questioned why his father was arrested and being beaten up.
Family of the victims hope this will be a lesson to all policemen who think they can get away with any crime.
But unfortunately in our country most police don’t play by the rules. It is either their ego or orders from above or corruption that drives them. Hoping for better policing and a system that stands for victims, especially the voiceless ones.
