When there's an order mismatch, there's disharmony and friction. It can either lead to fading away or a reordering of the other person's ( or in some cases even the person who isnt comfortable with the other's order recalibrating) priority order to find a new equilibrium

Isn't actually necessary that priority orders match ( for most kinds of relationships)- X can have Y high in the priority order while Y can have X low in the priority order ( above a certain threshold, below which it will fade anyway). It's about what is mutually confortable.
