[NEWS] Actor Park Sunghoon mentioned #KimSoohyun in his recent #QueenOfTears’ final thoughts interview.
“During the filming of over 10 episodes, I didn't know Kim Soohyun's and Kim Jiwon's phone numbers. I'm a naturally shy person. During the script reading of 'Queen of Tears,' my condition wasn't good, so I couldn't ask for their contacts, and I spent several months like that. I finally mustered up the courage to ask first.
Kim Soohyun is such a fun friend. Both of us have an ISFJ personality type according to MBTI, and our acting chemistry was excellent. Even the director allowed us to act without special direction when we were together. There's a scene where Soohyun hits me. During the rehearsal where he grabs my collar, I silently admired, 'He's really handsome.' Soohyun's gaze has a charm that deeply affects people. He's now a friend I personally adore and consider like a younger brother.
Kim Jiwon is a flawless character. The top student character. She's humble and shy, but when she transforms into the character of Hong Haein, she switches instantly. I thought that was amazing. To portray a terminally ill character, she maintained a strict diet for almost a year, which I found impressive. Many people around me often said, 'Kim Jiwon is so beautiful.'
I received a lot of criticism. I faced so many curse words in DMs that I couldn’t even check them all. People around me also said, 'I don't want to see you. You annoy me.' Even at the wrap-up party, when I showed up, people sighed, and they shouted 'bad guy.'
But I don't actually behave like that. I'm enjoying watching our drama because many people love our work and love the couple Haein and Hyunwoo.
Episode 14 almost surpassed 'Crash Landing on You' by just 0.1%. It was a joyful atmosphere, as if we had already achieved first place. Since 'Queen of Tears' was written by Park Jieun, I was thankful for this level of achievement. I thought the casting was good, and since it was fun, I thought it would perform well, but I didn't think it would become tvN's highest-rated drama.
Some people see me and say, 'It's Park Jae-joon.' The staff of 'Queen of Tears' also asked others to stand next to 'Jaejoon,' and at the production presentation of 'Not Others,' they asked me to stand next to Choi Sooyoung and 'Jeon Jaejoon.' These kinds of things happened often. Some people only know my face without knowing my name. When I played Jaejoon in 'The Glory,' there were people who enjoyed my character rather than criticized me. Because there was a comic aspect, it became light-hearted. This time, (Eunsung) was serious, and I received a lot of criticism for disturbing the intense romance between Haein and Hyunwoo.
If Jeon Jaejoon tried to look flashy by looking for rappers, Eunsung tried to give a gentle and formal impression. In terms of acting, while Jaejoon shouted a lot and had changes in intonation, Eunsung tried to maintain a steady tone by pressing hard. I wanted Eunsung to look threatening when he got angry, so I emphasized the accent.
I’ve also experienced gaslighting from people around me in the past. Eunsung gaslights Haein, lying to her that they are in love. At that time, I felt suffocated, couldn’t breathe well, and thought, ‘I don’t want to shoot this scene.’ It was a heavy scene.
I feel sorry for Eunsung's tragic ending because he couldn't win Haein's heart, and as someone who played Eunsung, I felt sad. I hope it was conveyed to the viewers a little. Overall, I think Eunsung's death was necessary to conclude the drama. I think if Eunsung went to prison and paid for his sins, he would have been obsessed with Haein. It was a necessary ending to send the couple off beautifully.
Playing a protagonist is comfortable, but playing a villain seems to be more fun. I'm usually not a very angry person, but playing a villain seems to be a way to relieve stress.”
no proper solo soowon interview, no photoshoot, made a pledge that sounded promising only for it to be the bare minimum, soowon not being on the same frame on the special ep. the lost potential for qot to be even bigger than it alr is. tvn when i fcking catch you.
