Many see ‘being tough’ on someone as a negative. In a world full of coddling and entitlement, sometimes your biggest advocates are those that care enough to push you out of your comfort zone. Don’t get made at those who care - be frustrated with those who tolerate mediocrity.
Mental toughness requires thick skin. Don’t be easily offended by what coaches, teammates, opponents, analysts, and fans say. Take control of your mindset so you can stay positive and focused no matter what others say to you.
Six steps to entering the zone:
1. Quiet your mind
2. Relax your body
3. Be positive and confident
4. Focus on the task at hand
5. Give your best effort
6. Trust your instincts
Mentally tough athletes never give up in games. No matter how many points they’re losing by, they remain hopeful and give their best effort for the entire game.
