’Twas the night before trial, and all through the town,
The McAlberts were sweating, their nerves breaking down.
The cover had held, but just barely, just thin
Now truth scratched the door, demanding it in.

The transcripts were scattered all over their bed ,while peanut butter alibis danced in their head. The group chat was quiet not a ping to be seen since “Don’t talk on the phone” became the routine.

Their phones long destroyed, their stories rehearsed,
But each contradiction had made it much worse.
The lies that they’d memorized started to fray,
And sleep would not come on the eve of this day.

The Googling, the silence, the tail light they bent,
The whispers, the edits, the stories they sent.
No blood on the glass, no bruises, no bend,
Just physics and facts that no lie could defend.

And down at the courthouse, Hank’s preparing his fight.
Rehearsing his lines in the still of the night.
Not justice for John that’s not in his plan ,But shielding the McAlberts as best as he can.

But not Karen Read with no secrets to keep,
She’s wrapped in her blankets, and drifting to sleep.
For lies make you anxious, and guilt makes you hide,
But peace finds the ones with the truth on their side.

Going completely against human nature, Jen McCabe decided to keep (literal) space from her and John when they found him the morning of 1/29/22. Instead of helping John or running into her sisters home to see if her family is okay (or to ask for help), she decided to stay in the car. The closest she ever got to John was when he was wheeled away on the stretcher.

When a traumatic event happens, we are used to hearing about fight, flight, fear, and fawn. It's important to note that Jen McCabe did ✨️none✨️ of these actions. It's easy to get stuck on someone's words, but their body language can tell a different story.. like hers.

Karen Read was rightfully flipping the fuck out. Doing everything she could to help. And even though Jen was trying to mock Karen for being "hysterical," that's a very normal response to the situation that was at hand that morning. Even Kerry Roberts tried her best to help in a chaotic situation.

But what did Jen do? She stayed away. One can only conclude that she kept her distance because she was conscious and aware of what really happened to John. The physical distance she kept from John says a lot about what she knew..
Remember this when she testifies again to how much she loved "the guy in the snow".
