I think many Indians misunderstand what happiness is.

Among the very wealthy, I often see an air of arrogance: “I have it, you don’t.” Among the moderately successful, there’s often a belief that wealth is solely the result of hard work and education. Among those still striving, the dream is often to acquire wealth so it can be displayed.

When money becomes the primary measure of self-worth, ego takes over. Add tribalism and casteism to the mix, and you create a society where too many people reward status over integrity-fueling dishonesty, sycophancy, and blind hero worship instead of character.
