Just wondering, this supposed settlement they offer, anyone any idea of the figures. My SA just said with loan charge box ticked I have 158k tax bill. Can you take the settlement then go bankrupt?
@Kirti99466977 @LCAG_2019@loanchargeAPPG But HMRC can't really do that, can they? Loans are still not income-taxable, and Govt knows it. Hence why the #LoanCharge legislation included denial of timely and affordable tribunal justice for freelancers. No #LoanChargeReview mention or recommendation to restore that.
Either those involved in the Review have made a huge mistake or it’s a deliberate trap. Must be one or the other as the only ones to benefit would be those post 2010 with no enquiry, whilst everyone else could either be worse off or certainly no better off with this ‘concession’!
@theDuff4@6kaladog That all depends on the company making the loan. No one paid themselves loans their employers did. And in one case, rangers the employer was found to owe the tax not the employees. But that was very specific case.
Na, not in my case - my role’s being off-shored to India due to #IR35 and i’m jobless.
That said, if theres any bites, its going to be me biting into jobseekers allowance.
@HmrconI@sajidjavid@BorisJohnson Govt understandably have a culture of trusting HMT, but HMRC's fiefdom below it has been largely invisible at cabinet level. The apparent Open Season on freelancing is at cross-purposes with Brexit and other high profile project delivery. Govt is going to find out the hard way.
'HMRC was claiming the law was clear over the past twenty years.' More lies, if it was clear why accept the tax returns for those 20 yrs, allow promoters to exist & then introduce a RETROSPECTIVE tax law from 2019. Lies- does anyone buy this crap from HMRC! @BorisJohnson
Struggling to know what to do about SAR. I think I submit it by 31 Jan with no mention of #loancharge and pay normal tax due then amend it by 30 Sep to update the section on Disguised Remuneration using advice supplied by either @LCAG_2019 or @WTTconsult or perhaps both. Correct?

@BaloPig @RichardJMurphy I still find it gob smacking that professionals say “just sue the accountant”
They mustn’t realise the likes of @WTTconsult have said 90% of cases are out of time for professional negligence claims PLUS what about accountants that don’t have PI insurance
